WHO Launches Global Hypertension Report: In conjunction with the UN General Assembly, the World Health Organization (WHO) is launching its 2025 edition of the Global Hypertension Report today. The report highlights that hypertension is one of the world’s leading causes of death and disability, affecting 1.4 billion people, yet only one in five people with hypertension have it under control. The WHO argues that scaling up access to simple, affordable treatment could prevent 76 million deaths by 2050 and save $100 billion annually in healthcare costs.
